According to the result from our previous study, in this article, we examine the open space in high-rise housing estates, the relationship between children’s play development and open-space. At the beginning, we explained the context of transition of open-space in high-rise housing estates in Beijing. Then we selected three districts for further investigation. In the next stage, we observed the children's play activity and the spatial resource for play in an open space, to know how children use the spatial resource. Then, we analyze the relationship among children’s development of playing, open space and children’s development age. After that we suggest that high-rise housing estate plans in Beijing should be considering more about the use of a diverse nature resource and do all that it can to make an excursion for play in the future according to the perspectives of child friendly high-rise housing estates.
