Abstract:
This study proposes a method for generating household activity schedules by combining information derived from the National Time Use Survey (NHK Survey), Person Trip (PT) Survey, and Survey on Time Use and Leisure Activities (TU Survey). Because this generation method is based on the PT Survey, it is possible to increase the accuracy of these activity schedules by basing the actual values of the time spent at home and the number of movements during the day on individual samples. And by utilizing the information from the TU Survey, it is possible to take into account variation by household type and shared time among household members. These factors cannot be taken into consideration by using only the conventional method of generating activity schedules (i.e., the NHK Survey only). As a result, the accuracy of this method of generating activity schedules is enough. Finally, we find that variation by household type and shared time among household members has a major influence on the estimates of household energy consumption.
