Abstract:
Whether the organizations are for profit or nonprofit, alliance, networks and partnerships are increasingly popular concepts among scholars as well as practitioners. The purpose of this study is to clarify how relational characteristics differ between nonprofit organizations that have linkages with other organizations and those that do not. The research area of interest is Fukuoka prefecture. Fukuoka is known as a local hub for the southern part of Japan. An applied logistic regression analysis showed the explanatory variables of trust and human networking through communication to be statistically significant. Being a trusted organization and developing informal relationships with personal communications are effective ways to link with other nonprofit organizations. In particular, “human networking through communication” is the most eminently illustrative relational characteristic in local nonprofit organizations of Fukuoka prefecture because there are comparatively few organizations in the area and the accumulated relationships and personal history serve as a foundation for better linkages. Taking a stance of placing importance on human network with communication is an effective strategy for these local nonprofits.
