Abstract:
This research field now involves many new researchers and they are publishing a vast number of papers. I referred to some interesting papers in progress in this decade. I tried to summarize them according to the former paper (Aoki, 1999) in the key subjects, i.e., the effects of respondents attributes, the descriptors of appreciation, the sampling of landscapes and their presentation methods, the predictive model of psychological response using the physical features for physical planning, and others. These categories were an essential process in the study of this subject. This paper reviews recent interesting studies in terms of psychological tests referred to in Environment and Behavior, J. of Environmental Management, Landscape and Urban Planning, Landscape Journal, Landscape Research, and some other scientific journals from 1996 to 2005. During latest decade, some examined various effects of attributes, some developed various descriptors of landscape appreciation, and some proposed various predictive models using the physical features.
