Abstract:
This article analyzes the relationship between environmentally conscious behaviors, especially purchase behaviors and disposal behaviors, and the characteristics of how people spend life time, recorded by a questionnaire survey. As a result, it is revealed that not only general environmental information, but also the living experience such as daily grocery shopping and housework, would cultivate environmentally conscious behaviors, necessary for forming a sustainable society. Furthermore, the participation in household chores may function as practical environmental education and would be especially important for males and younger generations. For females who are more active in shopping and housework, spare time is crucial in order to practice more environmentally conscious behaviors.
